GetAssignment

Assignment help in the United Kingdom

The UK is where GetAssignment started, and it is still where most of our experts hold their degrees. We work to British marking conventions every day — honours classifications, learning-outcome grids, Cite Them Right Harvard and OSCOLA — across Russell Group, post-92 and Open University programmes. If your module handbook says it, our writers already know what it means in practice.

Grading

How grading works in the United Kingdom

Every piece of work your expert writes names the band it demonstrates and explains why. This is the scale your marker is working from.

Grading bands used in United Kingdom, with typical mark ranges and what each band means.
BandTypical rangeWhat it means
First-class honours70–100%Original argument, critical engagement with the literature and near-flawless referencing. Marks above 80 are rare and usually reserved for publishable work.
Upper second (2:1)60–69%The benchmark most graduate schemes and Master's courses ask for. Strong structure, wide reading and analysis that goes beyond description.
Lower second (2:2)50–59%Sound understanding but thin critical depth, over-reliance on a few sources or a structure that drifts from the question.
Third-class honours40–49%A pass. Typically descriptive, lightly referenced and only partly addressing the assessment criteria.
Fail0–39%Below the pass threshold. Undergraduate resits are normally capped at 40%; taught postgraduate modules usually pass at 50%.

Referencing styles we write in

These four cover almost every brief we see from the United Kingdom. Upload your library’s own guide and we follow that variant to the punctuation.

Academic calendar

When the academic year gets busy in the United Kingdom

We resource our expert pools around these peaks. Book inside a peak window and urgency pricing applies — book two weeks before one and it does not.

  1. 1

    Autumn term

    Late September – mid December

Peak deadline window: the last two weeks of November and the first week of December, when semester-one coursework lands before the Christmas vacation.

  2. 2

    Spring term

    January – late March

Peak deadline window: January exam fortnight immediately after the break, then a dense run of hand-ins in the last week of March.

  3. 3

    Summer term

April – June (dissertations to September)

Peak deadline window: May examinations, followed by dissertation submission in mid-August or early September for most taught Master's courses.

What’s different about studying in the United Kingdom

The details that trip up students who arrive from another system — and that our experts treat as the starting point rather than an afterthought.

  • 1

Word counts are strict and stated in the brief. Expect 1,500–2,500 words for a first-year essay, 3,000–5,000 for a final-year or Master's assignment, 10,000–15,000 for an undergraduate dissertation and 15,000–20,000 for a taught Master's dissertation — usually with a ±10% tolerance and references excluded.

  • 2

Academic integrity is governed institutionally but framed nationally by the QAA's academic integrity guidance and overseen by the Office for Students in England. Every submission passes through Turnitin, and most universities now ask you to declare any use of generative AI.

  • 3

Marking is criterion-referenced: your work is scored against published learning outcomes in a rubric, anonymously, then moderated by a second marker and sampled by an external examiner. Writing to the grid matters more than writing more.

  • 4

Late work is normally penalised at 5% of the available marks per working day for up to five days, after which it scores zero. If something has genuinely gone wrong, submit an extenuating or mitigating circumstances claim with evidence before the deadline, not after it.

Questions

Studying in the United Kingdom, answered

Specific to your system, not recycled from a generic help page. Anything missing? A real academic co-ordinator replies, day or night.

Ask us anything
Can you write to a 2:1 or first-class standard for UK marking?

A subject expert writes every piece from scratch against the rubric you send us, and we tell you honestly which band it demonstrates. What we will not do is guarantee a grade — no one outside your marking team can, and any service that promises one is selling you a fiction. What you get is a reference solution that shows what a 2:1 or first-class response to your specific brief looks like, with a marker's note explaining why each section earns its marks.

Do you use Cite Them Right Harvard or my university's own variant?

Yours. Harvard is not a single standard in the UK — Leeds Harvard, Coventry Harvard and Cite Them Right all punctuate differently. Send the referencing guide from your library or module handbook when you order and your expert works to that exact variant, including the awkward cases like a NICE guideline, a company annual report or a lecture on your VLE.

Can you help with an OSCOLA-referenced law assignment?

Yes. Our law specialists hold LLB or LLM degrees from UK institutions and write full OSCOLA footnotes, including neutral citations, pinpoints, subsequent references and a properly split table of cases and legislation. We cover English and Welsh law as standard, and Scots law and Northern Irish law on request.

What happens if my extenuating circumstances claim is approved and the deadline moves?

Tell us and we reschedule at no cost. A later deadline usually means a lower price too, because urgency is a pricing factor — so we recalculate downwards and refund the difference rather than quietly keeping it.

Academic support that fits the way the United Kingdom marks

Send your brief, your marking criteria and your referencing guide. We come back with a named expert who has written to British conventions, a milestone plan and a fixed, individually-set price. Solutions written from scratch by that expert, editing and 1-to-1 guidance — learning material, never work to submit as your own.

Our UK desk runs on London time with academic co-ordinators live from 08:00 to midnight and overnight cover from our Asia-Pacific team — so a 2am panic before a 9am Turnitin deadline still reaches a co-ordinator who can act on it.
